I am looking at either buying

Xfx GeForce 6600GT PCI-E 128MB DDR3 TV+Dual DVI (http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?rb=8120578551&action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=80376)

or

Sapphire Radeon X700 PRO PCI-Express 256MB GDDR3 TV-Out DVI-i Retail Box (http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=74654)

even though it only has 128mb?
would it make much difference to have 256?

The 6600 GT has faster speeds and is the better performer. On the super high end games, you may see a little difference, but most of the time, the 6600 GT is going to be the better performer.

X800XL

Sure it's more expensive, but it currently offers the best bang for the buck.

He may not need that much power. And you're right, it is more expensive. He asked which of those 2 cards he should get. So for you to go and post he needs to get a X800 XL is just wrong. Please stay on topic. :t

Dude, go screw yourself.

The title of the thread clearly reads "Which card would you reccomend." He showed two cards he's considering, I posted a link to a card that I would reccomend. I didn't see one single instance of him saying "And for the love of god, don't go reccomending something else!!"
