I am upgrading my memory from 64M to 128M
I have Corair PC 100 64M now. I added a PNY 64M Pc100 and the system reads only the 64M. I removed the corsair and installed (2) PNY 64M pc100 and the system just Beeps. I added a 3rd 64M PNY PC100 with the same result.
The system is a ABIT BH6 with celeron 300a running at 450 2.0v.
I am sure that the memory is good, it is brand new. I must be doing something wrong.
Like, do I need to reset the system to bios defaults before I add memory?
Any help will be appreciated.

Hello -

I had the same problem with some PC100 memory running at 10ns, not the usual 8ns or less. I ended up exchanging it for 8ns. My board didn't like the fact it was at 10ns. The other thing you can try, and I also had this problem with 8ns dimms, is to change the SDRAM CAS Latency in your Bios settings under "Chipset Features" from either 2 to 3 or vice versa. I had one stick of ram run perfectly at CAS 2, but wouldn't even boot at CAS 3, just beeping like you're getting.
Hope this helps.

I would try running my processor at it's default setting, then installing the RAM. If it works, that was your problem. Then I would try mschuch's option. But that's just me...

~edit~ I would always change my cpu speed back to default before installing any new hardware. Thataway you eliminate that possible conflict right off the bat.
