can someone tell me why that thread was closed? if it's something that's not to be discussed on the board, just tell me so. if you'd just like to not broadcast it, but are willing to tell me, email me at nandjnospam@primenet.com
and you know what to remove.
if i'm being a nosy cus, tell me that, too. /forum/smile.gif

It was closed because there were double posts. www.sysopt.com/forum/Forum1/HTML/001840.html (http://www.sysopt.com/forum/Forum1/HTML/001840.html)

The reason why identical submissions in different forums or accidental double posts are closed (and/or referred to with it's duplicate link) is because the replies of one or the other tend to get confused and it's difficult to follow the flow of the responses.

I usually will try to post a note as to the reason with it's referral link so that (hopefully) it's not misunderstood.

socalgal - I asked this once before, maybe you didn't see it. Why doesn't a moderator or administrator just delete the extras when a double-post is found? There were so many lately that it would seem that deletions would save server space!
Plus a locked thread draws curious attention whereas a deleted double goes unnoticed, possibly even by the poster.

Just a suggestion. /forum/smile.gif /forum/smile.gif

yes, for instance, how much server space did we use up with this silly thread? /forum/smile.gif thanks for the answer.

Hi Ed_S

Considering the number of duplicates (although this has improved of late since some server bugs have been worked out), deleting them all would be a more complicated and time consuming effort than the process of editing and would start to seriously impact the time left for moderating and helping Members.

Also, when a thread has been locked, that very curiousity which will lead one to it, and any note posted within, will hopefully explain to the person who's reading it why it was locked, so they and others can consider that information in their future postings.

Hope this answers your questions. /forum/smile.gif

I've got to admire the job she's doing.

I sure wouldn't want to be only mod listed on a board this size!!! Most boards have two or more.

Although I'm sure Joel and Scott still help out...
