It is the perfect place for those wanting the ultimate crash pad - a cupboard masquerading as a flat for £135 a week.

Into living space measuring just 7ft 6in by 3ft 4in in is squeezed a kitchenette, shower, wardrobe and raised sleeping area.

And to buy the flat in the plush west London district of Notting Hill would cost an estimated £100,000.

The ex-cupboard in an Edwardian block was converted into an apartment in 1980 and was used by its owner as somewhere to stay when visiting the capital from his home in Carlisle.

Estate agent Bruten & Co is marketing the flat as somewhere "tiny but trendy".

Agent Gordon Blausten said it had been finished to a high standard with wooden floors, glass walls and chrome fittings.

He said: "The flat is suitable for someone with a very active social life as they wouldn't want to spend too much time at the flat."

The home was previously let to an advertising agency worker who at just 5ft 2in tall was easily able to navigate it.

Before that its tenant was a nurse who moved out after breaking her arm in a skiing accident and found herself unable to climb the ladder to the bed.
