I try to use empire earth AOC on my laptop with win 2k SP4 it has 40G hd with 128mb ram...well anyway trying to play the game empire earth when i start it the beginning splash screen appears then it sayS eeaoc.exe has caused a problem will be shut down and then it also states it will be making a log of this 1st it takes about 10 min or more to complete this log and once it is complete i try too look at it and there is no information for me on what happened??? In the specific time in wich this happens the log states (progressivelogs)
22:58 ccevtmgr"application starting" event id 26
(next) 22:58 ccevtmgr "application started" event id 1
(next) 22:58 nprotectservice "the service was started" event id 3
(next) 22:59 ccpwdsvc "application started" event id 1.....
and that is all I have no idea where the problem lies??
is there a program i can use while i try to start the game that will show me the process and let me find where the problem is?

All 3 of those files you listed are part of Norton Internet Security, or Norton Antivirus. Scan the game for viruses then if it's clean, try turning off NIS and NAV's realtime protection and see what happens.

Best I can offer would be trying compatibility mode. Here's a guide to get the tab to show up in Win2K.

ok i have done the compatability mode ...when i try to start the game under win95 comp. the splash screen comes up the background turns blue like it is getting ready to start the game and then it just hangs there??? Have I gone forward or backward in progress
once it is there i can not do anything but shut the pc down from the task manager which causes programs to stop responding (just a big mess)...now i am lost..if i do it in nt compatability mode it does the same original problem

It could very well be a compatibilty issue with the graphics chip in the laptop. Have you actually had it playing on the same machine before now? Have you tried reinstalling the game?

In my experience with laptops, most Neomagic adapters had 2MB or less ram. EE AOC requires a minimum of 4 MB's. Check that first. If you have less than 4 the laptop will not run the game.
It also requires at least a p2 333 with 64MB of ram. Make sure your laptop supports that. You also need direct x 8 which you most likely installed already or maybe DX9. They recommend a p3 600 with 128MB ram and a 32 mb video card. IF you do get it to run on the laptop it may take a long tiem to do anything.

CPU Type
Mobile Intel Pentium IIIE, 500 MHz
(5 x 100)
Motherboard Name IBM 26458PU
Motherboard Chipset Intel 82440BX/ZX
System Memory 128 MB (SDRAM)
BIOS Type
IBM (11/30/99)
Video Adapter NeoMagic MagicGraph256ZX driver
(4091 KB)(4mb)
so basically what you are sayin that even if i do get it working it will suck???
but maybe all i would need is a better vid card?

Yeah, it's going to be dreadfully slow. The last legit 4MB 3D accelerator was the 3dfx voodoo 1. That was released in 1996.
