Hi all,
I just moved into a new place with a T1 line and am having trouble getting all my programs running properly through their proxy server. So far the only program running properly is Internet explorer. I entered a bunch of values in the proxy server fields and it was ready to go. I am currently trying to get Gamespy working properly and have so far enabled proxy support, entered the http proxy that I am using for IExplorer, entered my username and password, and also enabled the firewall support using the default values of 26000-28000. Despite all this I cannot refresh any of the game servers.
Any suggestions?

Thanks

Hrm, it sounds to me like you may be not be able to get anywhere with it. If you have to go through a proxy server to get out to the internet, odds are it will not support 90% of games. Have you already tried it with normal settings? You may not have to go through the proxy server at all.

To really chew on this problem, a little more info would be useful. If you know what kind of proxy server is being used, that would help. A better idea of what type of place this is (business, dorm, etc) might be a clue. It is very hard to tell what is going on. They may have locked down all ports except http for surfing the web and perhaps email. If that is the case, you are screwed.

It's actually a residential proxy server that was set up in this new condo building I moved into. I am always talking to customer support regarding this, but they're not really techies so they can't really figure out what's going wrong. The techie guy always seems to be busy.
They got me to download a MSProxy Client v2.0 and told me to install it b/c it was supposed to fix all of my programs and it didn't do a thing. I'm waiting to hear back from the tech guy though.
So what exactly should I tell the system administrator when he calls me? Should I tell him to open all the ports? Can I ask him to give me "special" access or something? I don't quite know how these proxies work yet.
