Ok. I just got my first CDRW drive(Creative 4220) and it installed pretty well. I can copy (drag and drop) files from one CD to another. The problem is the CDRW CD can only be read in my machine with the CDRW drive. If I put the CDRW disk in another machine, I does not see the disk at all. I get one readme file that says "This disc contains a "UDF" file system and requires an operating system
that supports the ISO-13346 "UDF" file system specification." Anyone know what Im doing wrong. The disk formats fine and is viewable only in the machine with the burner. Funny thing is, I have a peer to peer network so if I share the cdrw drive, I can see the contents from the other machine. Any ideas?

well Fishboy,

Your "regular" cdrom in the other system is not UDF compatable. What is happening when you "drag and drop" files to the burner you are using a file format (leaves the disc "open") that the "older" cdroms cannot read (they can only read "closed disks".

I believe this issue was addressed at http://www.sysopt.com/forum/Forum2/HTML/002579.html .

Basically, many CD-ROM drives can’t read CD-RW disks. If the data/audio files you are burning is more or less permanent, use a CD-R disc. Most all CD-ROM drives will be able to read CD-Rs.

Or invest in a more capable CD-ROM drive(s). The Teacs and Plextors read the most formats. Get SCSI if possible.
