President Bush made it clear last week that he sees no quick fixes to the nation's energy woes. The problem has been long in coming, the argument goes, and so will the solutions. But if history is any guide, there is one thing he could do immediately: bring back the 55 miles-per-hour speed limit.

Thats why doughnuts have holes in the centre ........ So the cops can see thro em whilst Driving, doughnut clenched in teef & trying to shoot out the tyres wiv the other hand :p
Is yas driving test hard enough ?
Do the examiners do a decent job?
Are the cops letting it go to frequently?
Execution for doin' 35 in a 30 zone is an option :D

I have no idea if our driving test is hard or not. I don't have naything to compare our test to.
I think the examiners do a decent job. Maybe not great in some cases. The examiner failed my sister 3 times. She deserved to fail forever and now the state knows it. She no longer has a license. Too bad she doesn't care. :(
The cops around me don't let anythign go except speeding 1-4 mph. They camp out every morning and night at different points on my route to work pulling folks over. I think they get their monthly quota every day ;) .

Let's put it this way. I got a ticket once for speeding in Hawaii. I was doing 75 in a 55. The cop wrote it down for 64 and because it was less then ten miles over the speed limit the judge let me go with a reprimand. Now in California, well I don't want to talk about that. Suffice it to say I got a ticket every time I turned around it seems and half the time it was just an excuse to check me out for looking like a normal person. In California you have a better trip if you look like Eric Estrada.

Lando gets on a plane to go see his Idol's chums .......... Me I'd Ponch both of em in the head :D
Just what has the US speed limit got to do with a Brit anyhow.
You have enough laws of your own to think about.
Living on that pokie little island, you could drive from the top of Scotland to the tip of Cornwall in less than a day even if you never went over 55mph.

Easy, don't chug so much on the way there, then you can chug more on the way back. Your odds are better you won't end up in the poke. :D
