I'm curious.....I've added a few items and want to know if I'm still within the curve for average to good, or if my temperatures are now pushing the upper end of the spectrum:

Processor: Intel P4 3.2e prescott with H/T
MoBo: ASUS P4P800-VM (Socket 478, i865G chipset)
Ram: 1GB Kingston PC3200 400Mhz (2x256 in duel channel array)
Video: BFG 6800GT OC 256Mb
CPU HSF: Zalman CNPS7700-Cu
Chas. Fan: Thermaltake: A1357 Smart case fan II

CDRW
DVDRW
Maxtor SATA 120
Seagate IDE 80
Seagate IDE 80

Mid-Tower Case

The only overclocking currently is the GPU

My average IDLE temps (box is rarely turned off completely):
Ambient: 46-49 celcius
CPU: 47-50 celcius
GPU: 67-69 celcius

My average temp after 4hrs of load with HL2 under "very high" settings:
Ambient: 57-62 celcius
CPU: 58-63 celcius
GPU: 76-79 celcius

Am I cool enough running as is? I don't plan on doing any overclocking until I get a case with 120mm case fan capabilities, and my current case can only support 1x intake @ 80mm and 1x output @ 80mm.

Watch ur CPU, and Ambient.....if it were mine, i'd just be a tad worried (not too much)...thats in my uncomfortable zone...my CPU used to idle in the 40's...i didn't like it...so i put a new HSF on it..and now its wayy low 30*s idle, and heavy duty stuff is at low/mid 40*s

I'm not too sure about the GPU, on the fact that i dont know howto get the temps for them on my card (sapphire x850xt pe)..

Considering the Ambient temps the CPU/GPU temps are pretty good.

So are those ambient temps correct? If so I'd be trying to get them down (then the others should come down too).

Here's a helpful review/test on case fan configuration: http://www.short-media.com/review.php?r=230

Shows that location is far more import than the number of fans.

As a long lost follow-up, I did keep plugging...

I swapped out my case finally to a:
Thermaltake Soprano (http://www.thermaltake.com/xaserCase/soprano/bws/bws.htm)

The difference between the Soprano and Tsunami Dream: Metal front door....Don't know about you, but that's the 1st mod I make on any case (removing the front door).

Now my idle temp rarely gets above 39c and load 42c.

I like thermaltake's design, but have a hard time fully recommending it.
1. The lock-downs for the slot cards and drives are flimsy.
2. The hard drives move around slightly in their housings when you pull/push on the cables.
3. Cable routing isn't all there, so you still need to consider how to tidy it up if you're concerned about appearances through the side door/window.
