The Run history is stored in the registry in location HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\RunMRU as a series of values a-z. To delete an entry from the run menu perform the following:

Start the registry editor (regedit.exe)
Move to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\RunMRU
Select the entry you wish to remove, e.g. h
Press the Del key (or select Edit - Delete) and click Yes to the confirmation
Double click the MRUList value and remove the letter you just deleted. Click OK to save the change
Close the registry editor
If you want to clear the whole Run list you can use the TweakUI utility

Start the TweakUI control panel applet (Start - Settings - Control Panel - TweakUI)
Click the Paranoia tab :-)
Check the "Clear Run history at logon"
Click the "Clear Selected Items Now"
You can then either clear the check on "Clear Run history at logon" and click OK or leave it checked to automatically clear the Run at logon

I have the same thing in my Run file, but I can not find the TweakUI applet in the Conrol Panel. Is this something that has to be installed when WIN 98 is installed?

4020,

You will have to install it. Its on your Win98 cd. It inside the folder thats called "powrtoys" that is inside of the folder "reskit" thats inside of "tools" then you will need to right click on the tweak.inf file and choose install.

4020-Go to www.zdnet.com (http://www.zdnet.com) then go to free downloads and search for TweakUI. That's how I got it. 4020 huh? That's a JD tractor ain't it?

Appreciate it MtnSnow and Reddog 4629. Yes, it is a JD tractor. I happen to have one, and decided to use the number.

TweakUI is not on my Win98 CD. I have the Win98se disc. It one of those disc that says, "For distribution with new PC only." There is not even a PowrToys folder on the disc. Any clues????

Ahhhh...Win98SE It didnt get included on SE You will need to do some searching on the net for the Win98se version. (i have heard people say they have used Win98's on the SE version but I dont know it that will work)

Anybody else know of Tweak for Win98SE?

Chairman Bill and Co, in all their wisdom, dropped Tweakui from Win98 SE. I have been told that Tweakui works with SE (why wouldn't it? - ok, nevermind, don't answer that...), but haven't verified that personally.

Interesting article Underclocked.
Question: If tweakui is not being supplied because it was meant for expert users. Does microsoft supplying regedit and debug mean they they are for use by novices?
