Online the internet is good. Game play is horrible. It starts out great but after about 2 minutes it starts getting jerky and then the sounds start getting messed up. I've been playing online games for about 2 years and then this starts. Could it be Win98? I have a U.S. Robotics V.90 56k modem.
128megs of ram, P2 400mhz and a voodoo3 3000 AGP video card. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, from you system stats, its definitly not a memory or system issue. It's probably modem. Make sure your connection is fast, and, some games just suck with net play. Also, some servers for games may experience alot of lag (like a guy with a 56k modem trying to host a 12 player game...). So, try a different server. Also, make sure your not running any unneaded applications in the background, or maybe you need a new patch for the game your playing. If your on AOL, thats probably your problem. If not, you may want to contact your ISP and see if they're having connection difficulties.

Thanks for your ideas and/or help, but I was with Mindspring for a while and I thought the same thing too, so I changed to Earthlink with the same problem. I got good results with the modem... come to think of it this problem seemed to start when I upgraded to Win98. You think?

Well, depending on wether you upgraded with the 95 to 98, or just flat out formatted your drive and went to 98, if you took the upgrade from 95 to 98 (though you probably tried this) you might want to reinstall the games. Though there shouldnt be any problem, who knows, windows is kinda screwy sometimes.
