I have an abit ata66 card, tyan s1590 mobo, win98se, amdk62450, Maxtor 7200rpm ata66 h.d. Since I installed the card, (finally), Sisandra posts very poor ratings for the hard drive. The index dropped off from 7200 to 3150! Also, the seek time was listed as 90, yes ninety, ms. Before it was 10. Does this seem right? Or, does sandra have a hard time testing it because it is a scsi card? It lists the hard drive as a scsi now. I can't see any difference in the performance of the computer. I am planning on going to a k63 450 or 500 as funds allow. Anyone want to contribute to the Help Scott upgrade his computer fund? Just kidding.
P.S. I just tried to play Need for Speed III and the computer locked up!!! I uninstalled it and installed it again. Same problem. Once I got a "buffer overrun" message. Motoracer 2 won't play either... I am beginning to think I wasted my money.....
