I have ordered one of these ...
now i just wonder... are they
any good? or just **** /forum/biggrin.gif
i guess the name ABIT says
quite alot though....
opinions?
Well I've got one.
I spent 3 weeks trying to install it. For some reason it wouldnt configure to my machine very easily I'm running an ABIT BX6 Rev 2 as well strange. I eventually got it working after numerous problems and after the wife dropped it on the floor...go figure.
Basically the card doesnt share IRQ's well so depending on what mbo u have find out which slot has specific IRQ's assigned for me it was PCI's 2 or 3.
I had different problems with it each time I tried to install it so I could go on for ever but the manual I found to be not a great help at all.
After I finally worked out all the kinks it runs great, so be patient and persist. If I can be of help then feel free to e-mail me or post some more. I am away all next week though.
Good luck
Oh nooooooooooooooo...
Why haven't you bought the Promise UDMA66 card... or even better the FastTrack controller...
Add another HD, config them on a RAID0 array and watch your PC flying !!!

Hi Mike
Two months ago, I have upgraded my PC with a new disk sub-system using the Promise FastTrack RAID card and 2 IBM 22Gxp 9.1Gb.
To be honnest, I am glad I did not "waste" my money on a SCSI solution.
Here is the all story:

I have a hot rod in my Tyan s1590. The three weeks senerio is not far from the truth... if you have a lot of items using irqs. I tried about a half dozen times and gave up for a while. Today I stuck it in and it worked! But, SiSandra soft benchmarked my drive at 3120 with the hot rod and 7400 with the 33 onboard controller! It also said that seek time was 87ms! It may be something about the card that SiSandra doesn't like. I have a Maxtor 7200 rpm ata66 hard drive. I can't tell any performance gain with the card although I haven't done any heavy duty processing yet. The thing that did make a difference was the 80 pin ide cables that came with the card. I could tell a difference with the onboard controller with those cables....
