I just got a pioneer 109 drive and when I try to just make a disk or data as a backup I am only getting a burn speed of 1.5x (2Mb/sec) the media i'm running to is 8x media. I have the drive hooked up via an external usb2.0 enclosure. The system is usb 2.0, thats not the issue. Im running winxp sp1, with 1gig of ram, and and amd3200+cpu. any ideas how to get the speed up?

If you want max speed hook it up to the on board IDE controller.

I'm going to do that for a test to make sure its not an issue with the drive itself. But I should be able to get more than 2Mb/sec throughput off the USB 2.
