I've just been watching Fox News and have come to the conclusion its a joke, that guy OReilly can't be for real can he, surely someone that dense can't really be that thick - can they.

From what I have observed he lets people speak if they say things he agrees with, if they don't he talks over them, not exactly unbias and fair reporting from someone who should know better is it.

Thank God for CSpan.

I can't stand any of them..sometimes they make a good point, but then they go about berating everyone who has a different opinion...

One of the justifications I heard a spokesperson (you can call them spokeswomen any more) from Fox say recently was along the line of:

"Since the media pre 9/11 was so ultra left, the programming and viewpoints expressed by Fox are just addressing this past imbalance".

What a crock of shizzola! Whats real scary is that many people actually do believe that Fox is fair and balanced.
I guess people will believe anything if you say it often enough.

Media is ALL biased in some way. If everyone realized this and learned to get their news from multiple sources to try and get both biases to filter out the facts, it wouldn't matter who swung left and who swung right.

Oh, and Mr n00b:
surely someone that dense can't really be that thick If he's dense, would his being thick come as a surprise? Bit redundant. And how are you just now seeing O'Reilly's bias? Have you been asleep for the past few years?

What I'm talking about is that if it swung an equal amount to the left, it wouldn't be as big of a deal to everyone.

The right swing of this news channel doesn't bother ma as much as the berating they give to anyone who disagrees.. It's the close mindedness of the reporters/journalists that really gets me with this channel. The "I'm right and you're an idiot if you don't agree" attitude is just plain childish.

I actually enjoy hearing what the extreme right has to say.. as well as the extreme left, and the people in the middle.. and the people from other countries.. the more you know, the better prepared to back up your own point of views..

But being treated like an idiot because I don't agree with you isn't news, or even worth my time..

Don't watch Fox News.

Sysopt overrun with bleeding heart, non-US, liberals. Full story on Fox News at 11!

Why is 'liberal' now a bad word?

Dictionary.com defines 'liberal' as:

Not limited to or by established, traditional, orthodox, or authoritarian attitudes, views, or dogmas; free from bigotry.

Favoring proposals for reform, open to new ideas for progress, and tolerant of the ideas and behavior of others; broad-minded.

What part of that could anyone possibly see as being an undesirable trait?
By that definition, most people would classify themselves as liberal and would in fact, fight for such things.

tantone
05-18-2005, 02:54 AM
Definition of conservative:
"marked by moderation or caution <a conservative estimate> c : marked by or relating to traditional norms of taste, elegance, style, or manners <a conservative suit>"

So how is that so bad either?

zybch
05-18-2005, 02:56 AM
You forgot to add:

Tending to oppose change.

I wonder why you left that bit out.
Don't only 1/2 quote. You should be above that.

tantone
05-18-2005, 03:00 AM
I didn't half quote. www.m-w.com

However, I, myself, am not a conservative. Change is good, in the right spots.

EDIT:
It takes both kinds to make any country work. I like the moderate liberals....the liberal equivalent to McCain and Powell. I like the moderates because they make me see why this country is worth defending and fighting for.

I don't care if all the religious right were to die tomorrow, nor do I care if all the whacko-hug-a-tree-left died tomorrow. As long as the moderates are left on both sides, we have a good thing going.
