TRAGEDY- Earthquake

A major earthquake, measuring 9.1 on the Richter scale has hit
Lebanon this morning.
350,000 Lebanese have died and over a million have been reported injured.
The country is totally ruined and the goverment doesn't know where to start with providing help.
The rest of the world is in shock; Canada is sending troops to assist the country, Europe is sending food and money, and Australia is sending 350,000 replacement Lebanese.

now increased to 500,000 replacements, though there is some reticence by 490,000 of the potential repatriates.

We have a higher level of multiculturism than just about any other country. For instance, there are more Greek people living in Melbourne than in any other city worldwide except Athens in Greece itself.

Unfortunatley it seems that all the whining poms come here too :(

But we take all commers, and lock them up in detention camps in the middle of the desert.

If you have more foriegners than the USA I feel for you and all your countrymen.

I think the doors need closed. I am all for immigration but it is totally out of hand. Put'em all on a slow boat to China. That'll learn'em.

When I lived in Silver Spring the Mexicans and African nationals owned the joint. They'd steal my kids toys while I was watching them and then run into their house. I'd go to the door and the "adult" would say it wasn't there.

I was working maintenance on the complex and had master keys. I once used my keys illegally to steal back my daughters Radio Flyer wagon.

You should have seen their faces when they saw me pulling her along in front of the building in it. They knew what I had done and there wasn't a thing they could do about it.

I guess they could have reported me for stealing my own property but the wagon was brand new and I had the reciept.

Its not so bad in the country where I am. We're getting a lot of Asians here now, but they generally keep to themselves.
In the cities its another story.
A couple of years back when I was in Melbourne for christmas me and my brothers went into town to see the final LOTR movie and you could have played 'Spot the caucasian'.

If all Austrialians were like you 'Racist' which thankfully most are'nt I should think most 'whining poms' as you call them would give you a wide berth.

You always give an Australian a wide berth when they approach as a matter of habit. They only bath when they travel to the one waterhole in the middle and there is a two year waiting list. ;)

Also, I'm not sure if you've looked, but poms do whine and whinge an awful lot, especially when they move to different countries. The nickname 'whinging poms' didn't arise for no reason.
My Dad's a pom (as are many of his friends) so I think I'm eminently qualified to offer this viewpoint as fact.

Let me offer up another controvercial bit of wisdom :p :t

Stereotypes (which many people take for racism) came from somewhere. Not all people match the stereotypes, but WAY too many do.

I'll start with my own background. Italians are overly-aggressive. Irish drink way too much. On to the generic ones: black people like fried chicken and are lazy. Phillipinos have lace doilies on the headrests in their cars. Asians are bad drivers (an Asian lady is rear-ended by a white guy in San Fran. Passersby say, "What'd she do, back into him??"). Middle Easterners treat their women horribly.

You can do one of two things. You can either learn to laugh at ALL of the stereotypes (those that fit your nationality too), or hate them all and whine.

The fact is, there's some truth in all of them. It's not racist. It's realistic.

And I'll bet you ANYTHING that most of these countries would dookie in their trousers if the same number of immigrants that come to the US went there. Like an immigrant exchange program.

I'm not qualified to call anybody anything, its just an observation after reading your rather puerile joke. To say it is in bad taste when one considers the recent earthquakes in Asia would be an understatement.

As for whining Poms, you are just repeating parrot fashion what you have been conditioned to say, I expect if your kinsmen habitually said Australians were the most cultured people in the world, you would agree.

Your Dad, well I expect there have been moments over the course of your growing up when he has wished he had used some form of contraception at the moment of your conception.
