connecting two computers by interlink cable

I need to connect two pc's with an interlink cable to send files over. One is running win95, the other has dos 6.22. Is there any good software for doing this? Should i reboot windows in ms-dos mode?

with Norton Commander you can send files (in win95 too)

I've used interlink to do this before. You'll have to copy the interlink files from the dos system to the W95 system, though. Just set it up so the dos system is the one running intersvr, and have the Win 95 system load interlink in the config.sys file. If you want to leave it in there permantly, use the /auto parameter. This works fine, but remember that parallel cables are much faster than serial cables... Good luck.

this works fine, but Interlink cables are slow, If you were going to transfer files between computers a lot I would recommend a couple PCI (ISA) network cards and a BNC cable. There quite cheap < $20 a piece depending on what you get, or you could just get get 2 and the equipment in a kit for not too much either.

I picked up 2 PCI 10/100 network cards for about $30. They are RJ45 only, the BNC cable is good for long lines, but requires additional hardware - BNC "T" and 75ohm terminator at each end.

The secret is the RJ45 cable. Unless you use a LAN hub, the cable must be a "crossover" type, not just a "patch" type.

Transfers are automatically at the best available speed - 100Mb/s. Works great. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
