I've just put ultra 66 controller card in my system, do i have to disable primary IDE controller in BIOS even though i still have an ata 33 slave attatched to it ???

I don't think you need to disable the onboard IDE controller. They both co-exist. I have also a Promise controller (FastTrack RAID) with a LS120 and a CD-rom plugged on the onboard controller. They are both happy and working OK ! Once again, you'd better check the manufacturer's web site...
