I was playing Band of Brothers the other day and I realized that most of this war games are most of the time based on USA vs. Germany... such as Medal of Honor and in Battlefield which also have USA vs. Japan..
I wonder don't Germans and Japanese people get mad when they play this type of games and they have to play as Americans killing Germans and Japs..? Or they just don't release this type of games in Germany..

I think that it isn't a big deal to everyone since this has been in the past and that the games just bring back the past for everyone to see what it might have been like. IMO.

Those are FPS games not War Games :(

War Games you can usually pick a side and who kicks whose *** is decided by how well you play the game.

Nonsense. Plenty of games let you choose which side you want to fight on. Battlefield 1942 games let you choose either German / American / British / Japanese whether you play single player or multi player. Battlefield Vietnam lets you pic Vietnam or American. Call of Duty you can be American, German, British, Russian. Some games have single player story lines that revolve around an American soldier but that's not the norm any more. If you want to be Iraqi, load up the Desert Combat mod for Battlefield. And the choices will be more in the upcoming Battlefield 2.

In the defense of the game, Band of Brothers (uh, just look at the title) revolves around the US military.

If I'm not mistaken, there are other games out there that focus on other countries...Germany specifically. Wasn't there one, or more, called Panzer Tank Commander or something?

And, as ahurtt pointed out, Battlefield is completely open to letting you play whichever side you want in whichever battle you want.

In the end, if you're playing these games with politics in your head, I think you're missing the whole point: have fun!

Maybe Germany and Japan make their own games about their own armies whooping the USA? If not I think the game industry would've already had an earful from those countries. Besides, in games like BF1942 you can pick sides. But I mean, I got nothing against anybody but THEY were in the war too... It's not like it's being made up, it's history, and nobody (including USA) can complain about a game that depicts their country losing a battle if they really DID lose that battle during the war.

not really
there was a game, cant remember which one, where you could play germans . . wasnt a fps, more like a command and conquer style game . . . and i think that game was forbidden here in germany . . . or it was rated 18

if i play "war games" i dont really think about the "war", for me its just a game

and most people here in german dont care if they have to shoot "their own people", we started the war and luckely we lost!! maybe some nazis are pissed a bit

that's the most important thing about games

remember it's a game, so have fun and relax

do any crazy thing you want, after all it was meant to be fun

so if for all god sake the game gets bored, load the cheats :D

and continue the crazyness :x

woooooohoooooooo!!!!!!! :t

BTW: i always avoid any game that is USA related. ;)

i'm usually into Fantasy and Anime stuff, or Sci Fi themes that does not involve any known real life places :-@
