I know it is always best to have the latest drivers, but my modem (a diamond supraexpress v90) is only a couple months old and has always worked great, so I never thought about updating the drivers. My ISP recommended to update firmware, and I did, and now it connects 8 - 9 kbps faster than ever before. Just thought I would pass this along to everyone as it is a free 20% plus boost in connection speed.

Thanks for that info bdog! I'm sure some of us (myself included /forum/smile.gif ) don't check for updates often enough. Us still-using-modem ppl need all the online speed we can get /forum/smile.gif

doesn't help much when the server your on is using the v.34 protocall. it sux to have my conec. /forum/smile.gif

Is it that the only isp in the area? I would bug them to upgrade until they get sick of hearing you and do it.

yes, only one. and it's not their fault. they can't upgrade the server till a new switch is put in by uswest. but our telco, citizens telecom, is the only game in town, and want to keep it that way. if my ISP gets good access, then the local telco's plans for their own ISP aren't as profitable. see the prob? /forum/smile.gif
