Does anyone use it? Is the extra ~$45 worth it for the OEM product?

I'm designing a rig intended for zero gaming but primarily for digital video editing. Because this chappy doesn't care at all about gaming I'm considering a simple X300se PCIe card. Maybe later I'll link my newegg wish list up.

Anyway, is getting the Media Center Edition overkill? I'd like him to be happy and spending $45 on something that may not really benefit him will be better spent on a faster processor. I'm all ears.

Ive got it on one of mine, all in all its not bad. It is essentially XP PRO with SP2 and XP PLUS rolled together with a few other things as well

Designed more for TIVO type functions, you are supposed to have one or two TV tuner cards as well. You can get the remote for it and it does work well but thats designed to be used with a large screen TV.

For what your client is going to do just go XP pro with a good CPU and loads of RAM

thx guys. I don't think he'd benefit and I really don't want to spend 14 hours designing a media center system. Yet. I think he wouldn't even benefit from pro. Home SP2 oem. gratzi.

Could be home i suppose, once you take home and add the SP2 the bar at the bottom during startup is blue, not green.

The one thing that led me to believe it is PRO is that the remote desktop works, I can control that PC from mine, just like in pro. I was under thew impression that doesnt work in home.

You are correct, that doesn't work in home.

Another quick test, does it look like you could add it to a Domain, or just a workgroup? If a domain is possible, then it is Pro.
