Well , i've bought a 56.600 bps
external Rockwell Modem ... First , under win95 , the connection (password , stablishing connection etc...) was not so fast as my 28.800 internal used to be.
Then i bought a Celeron 400 , installed Win98 and my modem is even slower to etablish the connection !
Is it Win 98 ? Is it because it is an external model ? Any solution ?

If this is an external modem, your port speed maybe turned down.

Look in the Device Manager - in System properties, under ports turn up the port speed and see if their is a change.

Also under modems you may a connection speed adjustment in there too, actually there are two, one is a pull down selection window and the other is a slider bar (you may not have the second one).
