I want to add a 64M 168 pin SDRAM mem to my cpu, I have a P2 333mhz with two 32M chips and one Dimm slot open. The mobo has a 66mhz bus. I have been told that a PC100 64M chip will slow itself down and work with my mobo, but I have also been told that it won't work?
Anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks

you can mix pc66 and pc100 memory or even pc133, it will just be slowed down to the slowest chip. RAM is rated at a certain speed 66,100 etc. it will work at anything lower than or equal to, or sometimes even higher than /forum/smile.gif it's rated speed.

Be sure to have the slowest chip in the 1 slot.

It's not true that PC100 won't work on 66 bus
I just bought PC 100 and put 64Mb & 32 Mb on my LX 66MHZ MB.
It works the same as with PC66.No errors, no slow down.
I didn't try, but I been adviced not to mix PC100 and PC66.
Don't expect some magic to happen, but if in future you decide to go with 100MHz MB, so you take with you PC100 RAM.
