I just reinstalled Win95 C. I didn't format the drive, and now, I'm getting an error at boot that says, The System.ini file refers to a file that is missing or corrupt. The file it says is missing is c:\windows\system\vmm32\ntkern.vxd. I looked, and the file is there. I uninstalled and reinstslled the network stuff, and didn't work. I've also ran regclean on it, no good.
Any ideas?
Thanks

If it's a K6-350 or greater -- THE PATCH, if not try installing USB supplement. ???

It's on the disk, but it doesn't necessarily install. Think it's in one of the other folders on the disk.

Go to add and remove programs, uninstall USB support and the error will go away - you are now free to reinstall USB support.
USB is disabled, and the processor is a K-6 233. Doesn't Win95 C already have USB support in it?
O.K. I did that, now I get the same error, but instead of ntkern.vxd, it's enable.vxd?!?!?!?

enable usb in the bios
That conflicts with the sound card, no matter which Isa slot I put it in.

Go to system device manager and remove the usb stuff, then immediately go to add/remove programs and remove usb support. Then restart and doublecheck that you are disabled in the bios.
USB not in device Manager, add-remove programs USB not present, still error

One last shot: install the usb supplement and restart. Enter bios during the restart and enable USB, windows should then install the usb root hub, etc.
If during the windows install of the usb components a file is requested such as uhcd.sys, direct the installation to look in windows system file.
After the completion of the usb and windows is at the desktop, enter the device manager and attempt to manually set resources for the USB stuff. Look for an IRQ that doesn't conflict with anything and once found, set it there. Then restart.
Sound card should work, who cares if usb actually works in that system, and hope there is no error.
If that doesn't do it, I'm lost.

Which error are you getting right now??? the ntkern.vxd or the enable.vxd if it is the enable.vxd just go to windows and extract the file from the 98 cd ... or go to SFC.exe and type enable.vxd and extract the file.. as for.. ntkern.vxd if you remove the usbsupp it should fix it..
Oh and forgot to tell ya.. if the error is enable.vxd and extracting the file does not fix it.. go into add remove programs and UNINSTALL Accessibility OPTIONS.. reinstall if you really need it..
YOU ARE WELCOME
