asus MB p4p 800-E delux ?

Hi, I just bought the asus MB P4P 800-E delux board to replace my abit board , I have this question on the floppy connector pin , the ? is one of the pins are missing on this floppy connector ,I had bought another board before this and I sent it back is this pin suppose to be missing can someone confirm this for me before I install it

correct, it does not belong there. Should be the 3rd pin.. hard to explain which one as it depends on how you are facing it / how your connector is oriented.

hi it is the third pin , I sent one MB back to Newegg after explaining it to someone over the phone that a pin is missing and they said it shouldn't be , now I have a new board and the same just checking ,

also I have a raid ? I took my 2 hardrives off a abit board can I just hook them up with this board ? will the hardrives work like before with the old raid drivers what dod i do?

If you aren't able to just hook them up the correct RAID drivers should be on the driver CD anyway. Reguardless, with a new motherboard you will have to format. + I'm not so sure about the integrity of your data if you change RAID setups.. you might want to back up prior.

Also, about the newegg thing. I'm sure when they told you nothing should be missing they assumed you were saying an extra pin was missing, and not the one that was supposed to be missing.

with the newegg , I told the customer service about the pin missing after checking my other MB's and she said it shouldn't be, and don't install it just send it back to us , not thinking that she isn't a computer tech maybe I should have gone elsewhere ! to ask

now do I have to reformat the whole hardrive's , or can I just install the raid drivers and if so when do I do the raid install?

I don't even remember the order I took them out! 1/2 or was it 2/1

the floppy connector is keyed like that so you don't install the cable the wrong way. lots of boards are like that.

look at your other thread in data storage.

this is not like that the 3rd pin is missing from the IDE floppy connect , it's not there at all all my other boards had all pins this is the first that I have seen with one missing

Well proof is in the fact that I predicted which pin is missing on your floppy connector ;) Unless I'm a psycic and don't know it. The 3 pulled motherboards I have at hand are all that way as well though.

Anyway, it is good practice to format hard drives when you replace the motherboard. Myself, I've never had an OS that would boot after replacing the motherboard anyway so it was a necessity.

I'm not very experienced with setting up a RAID so I really couldn't tell you when you install the drivers, I'd assume prior to install though.. as most installers will ask you to press so and so before installing to setup RAID drivers.

well it's the 3 pin from the left on the bottom of the IDE connect first row up
