Just about every time I try to print something it gets so far and then tells me that the computer has lost communication. I turn off the printer and then back on and it will work fine for a bit again and then error again.
What's up with it, HP DJ670C?

When I test communication it says it's ok, what's going on?

Some thoughts:

Try reinstalling the printer software and checking for the latest drivers or patches at the HP site.

Have you double checked your printer connections?

Are you finding any conflicts in Device Manager?

Maybe it could be that simple.

Do you have any other devices conected to the printer cable, ie a scanner or zip drive. These can often cause data flow errors like the one you are experiencing.

Have you checked your port settings in the BIOS?

The printer is the only item on the port and my drivers are the latest. It seems to be okay up to about half a page's worth of print, then anything more than that and it is liable to go, especially on pages other than the first.

Flash, have you tried the following?

Goto Printers, Select your printer, select properties.

Under properties, select Spool Settings

Under Spool Settings, select "Start printing after last page is spooled"

Under Spool Data Format, Select "Raw"

Have made printers work with these settings with similiar problems that you are having.

good luck

Well,

Personally I'd take a 12 gauge an.....

But that is beside the point.

How much RAM do you have?

I will try getting a quality cable and see what happens.
Cheers.

Hello,

I had this problem with an HP - try changing the Parallel port in BIOS. EPP only, or SPP
