Does anyone know if win98 will pickup on all the drivers required for this mobo? I got a good deal on a closeout, but it did not have the cd with it. I know I can download drivers (14meg worth) from the sight, but is it necessary?

Win98 will not have all the drivers necessary, you should download the driver files.

OurSea,
The ONLY drivers that you will need to download is the VIDEO and SOUND. the busmastering drivers DONT USE WITH WIN98! the busmaster drivers are ONLY FOR WIN95. You might also consider downloading and flashing to the latest bios. I think you will be happy with your Amptron board.

Hey thanks MNTSNOW. This board is for my father in law and he doesn't know alot about computers. Never been on the net, that sort of thing. I just hope it is stable enough for him.

OurSea,
Not a problem. You should be happy with the board. I have used this board before personally and have used it to build several systems for friends and family. BTW which CPU are you planning on running?

Have not decided. Was looking at intel 233, but now I am looking towards the AMD side of the house. Any sugestions?

Well for the majority of that board I would say to stick to the Intel 233 chip. BUT if yours does have support for the 2.2volts (which some of the boards did but dont remember what revisions) then I would think about getting a AMD k62 300 in a 66mhz version if your board supports 2.2 volts
