In the past weeks I have noticed that my ctx computer's clock was always off. I would reset it in windows and it would eventually run behind. I know that when the cmos battery starts to go, this is the first sign of it. I opened up the machine to look for the battery but couldn't find it, I have emailed the mfg but I still haven't heard from them. Well, I went in to the cmos and changed the time in there, went to save. and the machine just locked up. Now it sort of boots up, but after a few mins it will lock up. So I wonder if a bad battery could make the cmos go bad??

I have an older minipost card which is a
diagnosis card, and according to the code and the post card manual, a c3 on award 4.5
bios means to display the setup, of course I could have misunderstood the book. I know that if the cmos battery would not work, I would need to specify my cmos settings everytime, but is it possible the lack of it could damage the cmos/bios??

Just wondering....

Open your case and look on the motherboard for a round chrome disc,or, twisted red/blue wires coming off the MB and attached to a small cube. Both of these should be close to your cmos chip which should have "Ambios" printed on the top.Which ever you have is your battery.Write down the info on the battery and buy a new one.If I'm not mistaken, when the old battery completely discharges you'll loose all the info on the cmos chip....so hurry!......DawgTuff.
