He doesn't look very "popefied" if you ask me! I wonder how long before that old coot buys it!! Anyone taking bets on a new record for the shortest reign? I think it currently stands at 12 days. mireland 04-19-2005, 01:45 PM )-| drewster 04-19-2005, 02:06 PM Isn't that a record for speed pope choosing ? I remember reading about the good old days when they locked them up with no food or water to hasten 'Gods' choice. lol Strawbs 04-19-2005, 03:14 PM Why not pick someone we can all identify with? http://homepage.ntlworld.com/s.trawbs/images/Pope%20Brad.jpg ShadeZeRO 04-19-2005, 03:34 PM tis the devil i tell yas! and i dont like this new popes face..he's too old and devious lookin... and did you know, the pope died! Jeez..why is this stuff always on the news.. tantone 04-19-2005, 04:15 PM Ol' Benedict XVI is supposedly very conservative, so we can forget about them coming down harder on the child molestation stuff. If the STUPID Catholics would just open up their eyes and realize that telling a man, who has not been castrated, that he can't partake in one of lifes natural behaviours is absurd, these sexually frustrated posers would stop abusing young boys. I think it's neat to witness a part of history in the naming of the new pope and the way it's done, but I really couldn't care less about Catholics or the Catholic religion. Why is it that they feel special enough to need their own country and all of this useless pomp and circumstance? Prolly the BIGGEST bunch of hypocrites I can think of. j.m@talk 04-19-2005, 04:16 PM Originally posted by tantone If the STUPID Catholics would just open up their eyes and realize that telling a man, who has not been castrated, that he can't partake in one of lifes natural behaviours is absurd. The major confusion comes in when things are taken out of context. They're a joke at this point. Hence all the pomp and ceremony. Catholics the world over are encouraged to buy into it all rather than actually thinking for themselves. As a generalisation, they believe more in the edifice of the church than they believe in god and this appears to be encouraged as it brings in more money so the edifice is more easily able to purpetuate itself. The biggest worry about this new guy being an ultra conservative is that he will continue the life destroying prohibition on birth control. But this too is simply a sneaky way to keep the money flowing. mireland 04-19-2005, 08:01 PM Originally posted by j.m@talk   pullin' a porsch are we?...:D DozerLYP 04-20-2005, 12:31 AM i love eggs Benedict...:D http://img33.echo.cx/img33/9972/eggsbenedict9xb.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us) zybch 04-20-2005, 12:52 AM Nice creamy centres, but I'm not sure I'd want to gobble down a pope though. Aparently the consensus is that this ratguyburger is just a stop gap pope till they can find someone more suitable. Pope john paul mark 2 was 20 years younger when he got the pope position so ratty probably will only be there for 3-5 years till he gets poisoned (the usual way unsuitable popes are encouraged to leave) or something like that. Personally, I think the 'white smoke' was from the pot the cardinals must have been smoking when they cast the votes. You know, you got a good point there fishy. There is a method to their madness. The Pope likely couldn't get it up so he not likely to get caught gettin' it up in the wrong place. Aside from that, there is no real leadership in the Catholic church anymore. He is just a figure head now. The Church is about money and it's loosing money. A younger pope is going to want a new fleet of helicopters and a couple of new Lear Jets at least, just to keep up with Bush. And then there is the state dinners the Catholics will have to fund. An old pope can eat oatmeal and Cambell's soup. Who can blame them really. It's just more for the rest of the Cardinals and Bishops. zybch 04-20-2005, 07:02 PM Funny, you never think of a pope eating campbells soup and oatmeal. But its easy to think of them eating stuffed peacock tongues, bald eagle livers sauted in truffle oil and newborn babies (in order to retain their youth of course).
