I do not beleive there is at this time, but who knows what the future holds. I chose the second line approach.

No way, but, if you're getting booted by call waiting, you can disable that.
DSL allows you to have one line, be on the internet, and talk on the phone at same time. My call waiting also works. You should check with your phone company, and see if they offer it in your area, and if it is going to be cost effective for you.

There -is- a device you can buy that costs around $70 or $130 depending on where you get it that will do this...If you're interested I can search for the link when I get home and give it to you. As far as software goes, I don't know of any...I was looking for one too.
Alternately, there are voice mail services which take your incoming message and then convert and send it to you as an e-mail which it notifies you of when you're online. One is at www.pagoo.com, which though it comes out to about $5 a month to set up with your phone number, seems to work good. Another is at jfax.com, which is free, though it doesn't work with your own phone number - you get a new personal phone number that people would have to call when they get your busy signal. As far as notifying you of the new e-mail, jfax doesn't do that - you'd have to set up your e-mail reader to do that.

Read the September issue of Pc world magazine, they have an article on "modems" that will do what you want. I also have this problem.

If you goto to Excite.com they have a new feature in there email services that lets people leave a voice recording that you can listen too from your Email box and you can also access from any phone line like an answering machine. But Pagoo is the only one that I know of that lets you receive incoming phone calls other than www.mediaring.com (http://www.mediaring.com) .
