CD R/W not working

hi
my cd r/w was working fine but yesterday the busy and stand by light came on at the same time when i booted up and my computer didn't find the drive on its system check when it boots up. i couldn't even open the tray by pressing eject.
i have a Acer 6206A
if anybody has an idea on this i would appreciate your help.

Were you using a silver CDRW or any other CDRW in the drive? If so, you should see a small pin hole in the front of the drive. Turn off the machine, and then put a paper clip point into the hole and push carefilly, your disk will probably come out fine, don't use it again or the same thing will happen, it will be a coaster for you coffee from now on. You probably had a bad sector on the disk and it could not identify that there wa a disk in it at all.

actually there wasn't a cd in the drive.

have you tried to uninstall then reinstall the drivers, sometimes that heps.
