Would it make sense,(or can it be done) to us a pci scsi, with a parallel port scanner?

A parallel port scanner will work only on a parallel port.

PCI is a bus within the computer. There are PCI/SCSI adaptor cards, and some motherboards have SCSI ports built in.

Sorry, for the limited detail, I had to leave town on an emergency... Thanks for the sub Roy.
Early SCSI (SCSI-1) had a 25 pin port that looked like a parallel connector. The connector is the only similarity the wiring and interface are quite different making it impossible to get it to work. Parallel scanners only work on parallel ports, SCSI scanners only work on SCSI ports. There is also a possibility of damage due to high voltages on the SCSI Bus. Most PCI SCSI adapters are SCSI-2 or higher and have a high density 50 pin connector instead of 25.
