I have just installed an addtional parallel port in my Compaq Presario 5030. I finally got the jumpers set right and the computer recognized it. Here's the problem, If I use this port for the printer, it will not print right (half page and can't read it) If I use the original port it works fine. I installed this port for my Back Pack CD/RW. If I daisy chain the printer to the Back Pack the printer locks up. This port will not recognize the Back Pack. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

4020, have you changed the BIOS on your first printer port LPT1 to EPP from bi-directional (which it is usually set at in the default mode)? Many pass through devices require this change to be made to get the printer to work on the pass-through device. This is the case with many scanners too. If this works, you may not need the extra card.
