Heres my problem: I have a PCI sound card, and I recently added a PCI Winmodem (it's a miracle, this one actually works well!). However, when my modem loads it also loads something called "Wave device for voice modem," which I believe is causing all my problems. This some how conflicts with the sound card's I/O addresses (It says it conflicts with the "Direct Memory Access [DMA]," and as a description of the problem only says "Code 31"). I know this modem does not have a built in sound card, so what the heck is this "Wave device for voice modem" thing? I've tried disabling it, removing it from hardware profiles, I've tried to change the I/O addresses of the sound card, but no nothing seems to solve my problem. Interesting enough, if I delete the sound card from the system devices and restart the computer PNP will detect it and it will work until the computer restarts agian. Any advice? If I have to take out the modem, no big loss, I bought it for $5.00 at Office Max after a rebate, my only problem with that is then I lose a winmodem that actually works (that surprised me since it used a ultra cheap PCTel chipset).

Wave device for voice modem
is a program that works with the modem to let you use as a voive phone if you have a mic and speakers
