I have spoken with the technical support divisions of both AT&T World Net and Mindspring. I am told by both that there is no way to really determine your true connection speed to the 'net.

I assumed that the Icon in your system tray (next to the clock), would let you know after you placed your mouse pointer over it. I guess that I'm wrong.

The tech reps state that Windows 95/98 only reports a figure in BPS and there is no way to go into your system and make any changes.

I have Windows 98 SE (OEM) and a 3 Com US Robotics v.90 win voice modem. My system came from Dell.

Thanks a million.

Doesn't "Sisoft Sandra Pro" (regged version, not the demo) have an internet benchmark section? Not sure, only used the demo.

Try this ftp://zdftp.zdnet.com/pub/private/sWlIB/internet/internet_tools/netmonit.zip (http://ftp://zdftp.zdnet.com/pub/private/sWlIB/internet/internet_tools/netmonit.zip)

LED, when you tried to make the site a hyperlink it adds an "Http://" to the beginning so it does not work with the link. If someone wants the download, they simply have to cut and paste your site listing:

ftp://zdftp.zdnet.com/pub/private/sWlIB/internet/internet_tools/netmonit.zip

You might give this site a try for an online Internet connection test.

This is a little off the subject, but,I think most of us here don't like "Winmodems".
