I just installed Sygate Personnel Firewall. When I try to access the internet, I can dial up, connect, but cannot access ANY web sites(including Sygate's) unless I select the option to allow all. I've looked at the settings, but I cannot find the problem.

Please help

Allow all of what?

Allow All = incoming or out going traffic.
I I set it to normal, it won't allow any traffic?
With it only functioning on Allow All, I asume that it is disabled. So why have it? There should be anoption to allow certain traffic through, but I cannot find it.

Sorry for not being clear.

THANKS

check under tools>applications to see
if you have your browser on "ask" or
"block". you may want to try it at "allow"
to see if it makes a diff.

I am not familiar with your version of the Firewall.

However in order to be able to use the Internet some programs and process need to be on the All side.

There must be a place were you can set the browser (I.E.) to be on the “Allow All” side.

yes- "applications" after right-clicking on the system tray icon
or looking under tools>applications when the main prog is
running. this is the place for your firewall rules.

i'm running sygate personal firewall 5.5 build 2710.

After opening applications...Left click on an app and goto view> details. It will show more individual app details/info and to allow/ask/block each app

You shouldn't have to allow all apps to connect and function

I have IE, AV, and an online scanner allowed...most apps on ask...and several services blocked. Although I'm not recommending this for you.

Takes a little gettting use to, poke around a bit, but you'll like it :t
