Would using a CD-RW drive alone instead of having both a CD Rom and CR-RW drive combined cause any problems? In other words, can I take out my CD Rom and just use a CD-RW drive. Last night I was trying to slave the CD to the HD when the pins on the CD drive started to bend. I dont want the pins to break so will leave well enough alone. If anyone just has a CDRW serving both functions, let me know. Thanks.

Yes, it's fine to use a CD/RW alone as the only CD-ROM. Don't forget that you won't be able to copy a CD to a CD though!!! You may also need to swap the jumper on the CD/RW depending on your system setup.

I thought about that copying CD problem but I have a peer to peer network in my house. I thought if I shared the CD Drive on one computer and the burner is on the other, I could copy CD's that way. Would this work??

In theory this should work, but I don't know if it's worth the risk. If your network is stable and no-one is using the computer with the CD-ROM drive then you should be OK. Perhaps you should just go out and buy a new CD-ROM. I'm not sure where you are, but over here a 44X is roughly £35 ($25 USA).
