Hi

Might be a basic question...
I just bought some Dell PowerEdge for our comms room @ work. The spec say that the case is a 7U chassis.
I understand this is a unit/measurement, but what's the equivalent in cm or inches ?

Rack Unit, more correctly abbreviated RU or ru.

A unit of measurement for standard 19" wide equipment rack panels and devices.

1ru = 1.75" This measurement was chosen to allow 1.5" devices to be enclosed in cases with up to 0.125" covers.

Alternately, a U is 1/96 of a ME.
Sorry couldn't resist that /forum/biggrin.gif
