Hello,

This is just a friendly reminder in memory of a NIC for which I am having a funeral:

As you are groping around behind the computer using the braille methood to hook things up, do not plug a phone line into your RJ45 network card!

I did. It worked for a few days after that but I got frequent blue screens with a message related to the NIC - finally it died cold dead.

I guess the 45 volts of the telephone line was too much for the NIC.

Next desk I have will have room to get behind it and hook stuff up... until then I use a flashlight and a mirror, until I get frustrated and just scoot the whole mess out from the wall. Thanks for the info.

Over here in the UK the actual phone sockets and the modem-in sockets are only slightly different.
And CMonster, the info you gave me on running that K6-2 400 at a multiplier of 6 wasn't needed-I am bying a new mobo and a K6-3 450 in a couple of weeks.
LOL!

Deafdog,

I hesitate to say this, as I am a huge fan of the AMD underdog, but you would be better off getting an Intel system than the one you are considering, that is if you are at all interested in best all around performance and compatibility.
