When I first installed win 98, if I was in my computer, and I highlighted a image file, the image would preview in the left pane. Somehow, this doesn't work anymore with jpegs , but it still does with gifs and bmps. Does anyone know how to get windows to do it again???? I tried to restore assosiations with tweakui, but nothing happened. I think this happened when I installed a graphics program. why it didn't mess up gifs etc i don't know. If anyone can help i would appreciate it. /forum/smile.gif

As luck would have it, there was a topic recently about this very subject. Look here for all the right stuff! /forum/smile.gif

Here is some information that may be of assistance.
From : http://www.mdwin.com/tips/
Preview BMP images in Windows Explorer
Modify the default value of HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PAINT.PICTURE\DefaultIcon to "%1" - and get a iconized preview of that Bitmap!
Here is what mine says and it previews .bmp's
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Paint.Picture\DefaultIcon
"C:\Progra~1\Access~1\MSPAINT.EXE,1"
Hope this helps.
