Scenario:
25 nearly identical computers.
24x CD-ROMS (one was 8x)
Win95/98
Set to no read ahead
2 4xCDR discs

Problem:
One disc works in all computers with no problems whatsoever. The other works in 12 with no problems, minor problems in 7, crashes the rest.

Question:
What the @*#% is going on?

No, I haven't tried reburning the disc yet. Working on that now.

Not all CDROM drives will read CDR disks (esp older CDROM drives). The newer ones seem to have less problems.

It also can be your CDR drive. Some burn better than others. Hope this helps and smile, be happy! /forum/smile.gif /forum/smile.gif /forum/smile.gif

Bet I've posted this url a dozen times-
[url]www.adaptec.com[/yrl]
Go there and download a UDF(Universal Disk Format) reader for those troublesome cd-rom drives. Be sure and check to see if those drives are in their "tested drives" list.

Get a UDF(Universal Disk Format) reader for those troublesome non-"multi-read" drives.
Go to their "tested" drives section and see if those drives are on the list.

The real kicker is that the 24x drives are all identical drives!

Got the new disc burned, going to go try it now.

Wish me luck!

The new disc worked just fine! Must've had a bad burn!

Thanks for all your help! /forum/wink.gif
