Greetings all,
I want to buy SuSE Linux 9.2 Pro, and I'm wondering if it will have the motherboard drivers for my Asus A8V Deluxe Socket 939 motherboard.
In fact I'm wondering what drivers it will have for my XP SP2 system that has an MSI GeForce 6800 video card.
Thanks for any help.

Try it first and find out. Get it for free here:

They call it an Eval version, but it has all functions and no time limit on use, but limited support.

Thanks for the reply mobo57.
It looks as if I'll have to do that because I just got a reply from Asus telling me that asus don't provide Linux drivers.
So, I have to wonder how a Linux distribution such as SuSE installs an Asus motherboard.
Is it correct to say that it uses generic Linux drivers that can be used with any particular motherboard that has a particular chipset?

motherboard drivers shouldn't be an issue at all.
The vid card is NVIDIA which usually provides excellent support for linux.

Richard is right on both accounts. You should not have any problem, though there is a chance (small) that you may not have use of one or two of the more esoteric features of your mobo. No biggie though.

Thanks, gents.
I appreciate the input.
I've been wondering for quite a long time about how so many people could install Linux so easily when none of the motherboard makers seem to supply Linux drivers.
