I was about to cry about getting a DS until I read the PSP forums. "I got 6 dead pixels and sony won't replace it!" "My UMD door is crooked" "UMD door won't close" "My buttons stick!" "My computer won't see the PSP through USB" "Mine can't pick up my wireless network" "My shoulder button cracked!" "I got dust under my screen" And many more... Feels good to know Nintendo replaced my bro's DS for only ONE dead pixel. And my DS.... It's fallen three times. Still working fine. bob05 03-28-2005, 11:41 AM Guess this is one of the issues with early adoption. I'll wait a year or longer before I'd ever consider getting on based on all these issues. It's really a shame, PSP looked so much more promising than the DS. PacNW CE 03-28-2005, 02:43 PM Sony produced a fragile and quirky product? No way! Lets see how the new corporate regeme handles the problems plaugeing the PSP. I watched the Gamespot live PSP launch, and the arrogance of Sony Executive VP Jack Tretton is laughable. I have no questions that UMD will be accepted.... As if dude. Your product has holes, and if you didn't know about them you arn't a very effective executive. stix_kua 03-29-2005, 06:27 AM I'm still loving the PSP over the DS. Nintendo....four bad consoles in the last four years... Game Boy Advance- yes it sold alot but the technology was out dated before the unit's release. Game Boy Advance SP- oooh, the same system only smaller, with a backlight for the first time not to mention none of your accessories will work for this "new" system. Oh and we still use cartirdges. GameCube - biggest joke in the world. They basically hacked a Dreamcast and called it theri own. Having owned two of these with each one failing within weeks, I dont see my self buying Nintendo systems for some time to come. Nintendo DS- ugly ugly ugly ugly....oh we still use cartidges but they are smaller now and we have two screens so that now you can look at one and then back at the other....becasue that is the most useful feature we could think of. Revolution- This had better be a revolutionary thing or else, i don't think Nintendo will be making consoles in the future. they may become like Sega and license software to other better companies. The PSP completes me....until the next big thing comes along. I also dont like the ad campaign for the DS....Touching is good? Are we breeding a new kind of sexual predator or something? fishybawb 03-29-2005, 07:52 AM That article addresses the biggest problem I have with all these "multi-function" devices - the jack of all trades, master of none factor. My phone plays music, Java games, and has a camera, all of which are rubbish compared to dedicated devices. Sony have shot themselves in the foot with the proprietary UMD format and excessively expensive (also proprietary) memory sticks IMO. SysOpt.com
