Hi all..

I just got a yamaha 4416e burner. I bought the OEM version, hoping i could save some dough. So, suffice to say, I have been using demo software - the hyCD stuff - to do burns. While audio cd's work great, I haven't been able to do a successful data burn. I've tried many different cd brands, so i'm pretty sure it's not that. When burning, no matter how many megs, all that gets written is a few tracks (0.5cm) about 1.5 cm from the center. It's like there is a big blank void from the center, then a little ring of what i wrote, and then nothing. Could this have to do with the drive? The software (ie. formatting incorrectly?)?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Try to get proper software.

The unregistered download version of GoldenHawk Technology's CDRWIN www.goldenhawk.com (http://www.goldenhawk.com) or Adaptec's Easy CD Creator ought to be tried. You want to make sure the drive's not the problem.

The following link is a must. http://saturn.las.ox.ac.uk/internet/news/faq/archive/cdrom.cd-recordable.part1.html
Save all four parts and take the time to read it.
