By the time I got the PM sent he was gone offline. I hope he is OK, he has a strong attachment to his cat. :( leprechaun_40 03-25-2005, 11:15 PM Losing a pet can be as bad as losing a loved one. My cat Spot was killed last summer and I cried for hours after I buried her. BadDriver 03-25-2005, 11:19 PM Yep, I went through it in December. I wasn't the same for days. It sucks to lose a pet. ShadeZeRO 03-25-2005, 11:24 PM  :( Billforce 03-26-2005, 12:05 AM Originally posted by leprechaun_40 Losing a pet can be as bad as losing a loved one. My cat Spot was killed last summer and I cried for hours after I buried her. As many of you witnessed, some thieves poisoned my beloved Labrador last month. I'm still not over it but thanks to my relatives, they got me another pup to try and relieve the pain I suffered from losing a close friend and companion. My new little guy is a "Smooth Fox Terrier" named Archie! Neat little guy. BadDriver 03-26-2005, 12:11 AM He looks cool Billforce. I read your post about the poisoning but I had nothing constructive to say. I was angry to say the least. I started to post something about a piece of pipe, a board, a nail, and a shotgun shell but thought better of it. ;) genesound 03-26-2005, 12:39 AM Nice pup there BF! ;) Glad you got your woes sorted out some  There is just no comparison to the bonds we make with our pets. I had the great pleasure of spending some quality time with SRV (Rave On) on some work we did, but I wasn't nearly so devastated at his passing as when I had to put my deaf cat Toots (pronounced like Bogey woulda said it) down, after spending much time and money trying to prolong the inevitable... not that I wasn't shocked and dismayed at SRV's demise. It seems cold almost that I could be more affected by an animal's demise than a person's, but that's how it is with pets. We spend so much time with them and they help us and we help them in ways that are inexplicable. At any rate, hang in there Murph. We miss you ;) Prushka 03-26-2005, 04:31 AM Originally posted by Billforce As many of you witnessed, some thieves poisoned my beloved Labrador last month. From the looks of it, bet Archie will be bringing home a catch or two...maybe contribute a nice little lizzard for you're stew ;) zybch 03-26-2005, 04:49 AM Originally posted by genesound It seems cold almost that I could be more affected by an animal's demise than a person's, but that's how it is with pets. We spend so much time with them and they help us and we help them in ways that are inexplicable. Its not strange at all. Other people aren't completely dependable on us, they don't give unconditional love like animals do, and we don't experience our relationships with people, from birth through to death in under 15 years. Its the compressed nature of a pets' life that can really get to some people. It requires no difficult memory feats to remember when you held pet x in the palm of your hand, no trouble to recall any of its little habits or quirks that made your dog/cat yours and nobody elses. All of this comes rushing back despite our best efforts to temporarily forget, when we are holding the pet as it slips into a barbituate coma at the vetinarian practice. Not a bad way to go from all accounts though :) If only we felt the same compassion to other humans, but this is rarely the case. I've cried far more when my cat died than when my grandparents and relatives passed on. Also, humans are bastards! The world would be a better place if we wiped out 3/4 of the global population, starting off with the rich SOBs who know the cost of everything and the value of nothing. Prushka 03-26-2005, 05:14 AM Zybch...It requires no difficult memory feats to remember when you held pet x in the palm of your hand, no trouble to recall any of its little habits or quirks that made your dog/cat yours and nobody elses. What I seem to remember now are 2 puppies my brother and I keep from the litter. And waking up with a nasty hang-over, only to find that both pups had the runs and completely covered the kitchen floor. I was stuck cleaning the slop in my bare feet, while my brother was outside gagging with an occasional snicker. But it's all part of the experience of having pets and humorous in hind sight...just WON'T do it again SysOpt.com
