help connecting to itunes music store

I have a dell laptop and home computer. using the exact same xp sp2 and the exact same internet dial up connection. I can connect to music store with the laptop instantly with the laptop but no matter what i try it wont work on the 8300 dell. I've tried everything turning off security and firewalls and accelorators and pop up blockers. I've tried everything. the two computers have the same software installed on them and it makes no sense.
please help.

Have you done a windows update? Might help but clutching at straws!
