Ok I downloaded and installed the latest catalyst drivers/control center. I'll be a n00b here, but why does Cat Control Center need open ports? What is going on here?

Ok that definitely doesn't make sense... :x

what's the name of that Port scan software?

i want to try it on my system to see if i get the same thing

using the normal "netstat -a -n" doesn't reveal anything like that :t

sounds like a virus/SPYware anyways

It's called active ports. And it shows up in my Sygate firewall active apps too.

I'm using older ATI drivers and showing no related port activity.

Nice app mobo57 - thank you.

LOL, use the control panel instead of the control center and you won't have these issues. The center wants to "phone home" occasionally and nobody really knows exactly why.

Besides, there are games that .net 1.1 messes up. My favorite NFSU2 being one of them. Use control panel. ;)

email them and tell them their software is bloated... I already have - with the link of that "benchmark" I also told them whoever thought of CCC and using .net should be shot. I don't think it made a difference, but if enough people tell them they have worse ideas than someone with a head full of angeldust, they just might listen (okay, I'm humoring myself on that one).

ohhh i c now... so that's why

yeah i don't use that .NET ****, it's crazy.

i use the same old same old video panel in the video settings

not the HUGEmongus sized broadware of the .NET control panel :x

Well I for one am going to roll back my drivers to the 4.xx version and grab radlinker or something like it. I don't build my systems with a gig of memory and a ton of hd space for someone to load a bunch of bloatware because they can't put together a few lines of decent code.
And I don't even like the way the control center works.

Always uninstall drivers completely and install the older ones. NEVER roll back graphics drivers. Your asking for trouble by rolling back.

That's what I meant. And already did. Feels like putting on that old comfortable t-shirt just out of the dryer!

I'm also very ANTI CCC. Slowed things down way too much, especially when going into the video properties. I just hope they continue to offer their driver package without CCC.
