I have purchase a new CDRW drive and wish to add it to my existing hardware setup. The problem is that I have the hard drive (c /forum/smile.gif on IDE1 along with my CD drive and my 2nd hard drive on IDE2. Because of this I have no free 4-wire power cable and my IDE appear to be taken up. What's the solution?

Hello -
You should be able to run 4 IDE devices (2 on Primary, 2 on Secondary channels). Just connect the CDRW as a Slave on the Secondary Channel behind your 2nd hard drive. As far as connecting to the power supply, any computer store should carry a "Y" connector.
Hope this helps.

Can I also buy a similar Y ribbon to replace my IDE 2 ribbon as it is a straight forward cable with no other routes coming off it?

Just purchase a new IDE cable that is able to connect two devices, just like the one connecting your 1st hard drive and CD-ROM. Any store selling hard drives will, or should, carry this cable. Just call around to your local shops.
