hi ive just done a fresh install of xp sp2 and i used nlite to make the cd that i used so obviously slimmed the install down a bit.
and now when i try to sort my music folders by artist they all just go to unspecified.
and also when i right click the songs it only comes up with the general tab and not the other one cant think what its supoused to be. see picture attached.
any help on how to sort this out would be sweet. thanks

Did you exclude wmp from the install disc you made? Looks like your file is wmp.

When I get the properties of a media file I get three tabs. The general tab is like yours, the security tab (which only appears with an NTFS file system), and the Summary tab which only has information if I put it there or my MP3 ripper put it there. See my image.
It is possible that Media Player lost the associations (ID3 tag info) when you formatted. I have several songs that have this issue. There is even a utility to back up the Media Player info so you can simply restore it.
I don't see the problem as something serious.

I think I may have misunderstood your previous question. Can you add titles to you view in explorer to sort you music. See my image to see if it is more along the lines of what you are asking for.
It still only works if the ID3 information is in the file. You may need to add it with MP.
