I have put together a system with an Abit ZM6 board, a Celeron 400 CPU and Creative TNT card. I also have an LT winmodem. After a few days I "lost" the drivers for the video card and could only get 16 colours. I think that the problem is a conflict with the modem card. If I take the card out, I can get 32-bit colour on the next bootup, but after a few days the colours fall out again. I have three questions:
1) Are my problems likely to be a conflict with the winmodem card and something else?
2) Is there some way (fiddling with the IRQs perhaps) that will get round the problem?
3) If I have to junk the old modem card, what sort of modem card should I buy to avoid conflicts

While I've never quite seen this problem before, try moving you winmodem to another slot. I assume it's PCI. Also make sure you have the latest drivers for both devices. I recommend nVidia's detonator reference drivers for your Creative card, Cl always laggs behind nVidia in driver releases.

did you ever go to user reviews. I had a winmodem about three computers ago, got rid of it, have a 3Com USR 56.6 v90. No problems. But if your serious about the winmodem try to change to different slot.
